quaggOS 0.1a1 released – OSPF/BGP routing solution

Mar 4th, 2010

Hi,

I am pleased to announce that quaggOS in alpha version has been released.

quaggOS is a live linux distribution I created which turns a server/pc into a full BGP/OSPF router. This is achieved by using the Quagga routing solution application.

Hi Ali, did you know Vyatta yet? It’s a pretty nice appliance software offering lots of network features und a IOS like command line interface ;)

    Hello Jens,

Yeah I know Vyatta – both Vyatta and quaggOS use Quagga (the Routing software suite which includes vtysh ‘IOS command line’ that we love ;-) )

Vyatta is good for a lot of things but personally I think a bit too overkill for lab testing and profiling – I wanted a live distro, which could boot in 20 seconds and provide an OSPF/BGP functionality – this is mainly why I created quaggOS, but I hope it can grow to become a bit more mature in time.

    Cheers,

    Ali
